Bugsy Malone musical a sell-out success
Freyberg's first full production in around a decade -
the gangster/love story Bugsy Malone was
performed to over 1000 people this week. And it probably won't be the
last production, as the four nights of the
show were all but sold out.

Cast and crew feels like a Family
For lead actress, Alexia Clarke (pictured) the
highlight of the show was becoming a family with all of the
cast. This is no surprise as two members of her
actual family were a part of the cast and crew. Lead actor Sam
Seumanu (pictured) who played Bugsy Malone
also had his dad and
Head of Tararua house Jim Seumanu as
a part of the stage crew and teacher's item.
Producer Ms Aitken was quick to applaud the dedication and talent of the students, and wanted to thank the Freyberg community for really pulling together to put the production on. From parents and teachers who helped with make up, costumes and props to people coming in and building set there were many valuable volunteers.
Choosing a Production instead of Stage-Challenge.
This year was the first in quite some time to have
a musical. The reasons being obvious to anyone who saw the show. A
musical like Bugsy gave a two hour window to showcase the
acting, singing, dancing
and musical abilities of Freyberg's students.
Stage-Challenge is an 8 minute predomantly dance
performance that charges parents three times as much to be a part of.
