Freyberg Cheerleaders Win National Championships

"We are Freyberg Proud!" chanted the school cheerleading team as they flipped, jumped, tumbled and smiled their way into winning the national cheerleading championships in Auckland this week.

Improving on their third placing last year, Freyberg's 24 strong squad demonstrated great dance and gymnastic skills as well as building human towers, and throwing some bodies high above ground. Freyberg students also picked up individual awards in Jumping and Tumbling competitions in the open section.

Head Coach, Caroline Rhodes spoke of her future dream to take a team to competitions in America. Meanwhile the team can finally take a break from gruelling practices three times a week.
