A Term of Cultural Success

CheerleadersAlong with Te Piringa, our national champion Kapa Haka group, Freyberg has enjoyed significant Cultural successes this term especially in Singing, Dance and Music.

Cultural highlights of the term include filling Freyberg's new auditorium for an Arts Academy Concert, a Dance Showcase and school Art's Week competitions.

On the 15th of June our 25 strong Cheerleading team entered the All Star Cheer and Dance Nationals. Held at the Bruce Mason Centre in Auckland, the national competition attracts dozens of cheerleading squads from around the country. Freyberg managed to come third in the competition, improving on last year's impressive fourth.

On the very same weekend, Freyberg entered two Concert Bands in the Feilding Festival of Bands. The concert bands consisted of around 30 brass and woodwind musicians and competed against 14 adult bands from around the central North Island. Maintaining it's strong concert band tradition, Freyberg's 20 minute performance earned a Gold award.

Freyberg's previously champion successful Boys Barbershop Quartet needed to add two new members to it's line-up only weeks before the regional chorus and quartet competition. With such a short time to blend and harmonise, It is a huge achievement that the boys won the regional competition, beating strong competition from a number of local schools.
