A Gold and a Silver for Freyberg Music

The national NZ Concert Bands festival saw Freyberg and over 20 other concert bands travel to Wellington this weekend to compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze rankings.

Freyberg took both it's senior and intermediate concert bands to the festival, to compete against adult community groups, regional youth "all star" groups and other high schools groups. Several high schools combined their best musicians for the event. .

When the adjudicators announced winners, Freyberg's senior band achieved one of only seven Gold awards. This was a tremendous achievement for a high school band. Freyberg's intermediate band, made up of 15-16 year olds, and easily the youngest group at the festival then achieved an impressive silver award for their 20 minute set.
